Flower Essence Consultations

So many changes

We are experiencing quite a lot of change.  If you find yourself asking why do I feel so out of it?   Why can’t I shift out of this feeling, this disease process or sense of impending shift, take heart —you are not alone.  Flower essences that help with transition could be helpful.  Bach’s traditional essence for this is Walnut,  others that could help are Birthing Harmony from Desert Alchemy,   New Beginnings from Green Hope Farm, Waratah from Australian Bush or Software from Indigo   Each of us are unique so getting a specific formula that addresses your personal needs is the best.

May your shifting be as graceful as possible!

Postpartum Help

If you are having the “baby blues” with a sense of “irrational fears and behaviors” then Cherry Plum can be quite helpful. Every time you nurse, place two drops of cherry plum in water and put that water near you to drink while you nurse. This is a way to take care of you and take care of your baby at the same time.

If the “baby blues” are affecting you for no apparent reason do the same with flower essence of Mustard.

Both of these are Bach flower remedies.

Making the Field Whole in Stressful Times

Yarrow Environment Solution (YES) from FES reminds the body/mind field how to hold itself in wholeness when exposed to allergens, radiation from cell phones and computers, radiation from air travel and other sources.

Making and Honoring Boundaries from Desert Alchemy is helpful for situations where you feel pushed or prodded or feel that others are getting under your skin.  This helps us to be able to interact with others without becoming enmeshed with their perceptions of who we are and helps us to give them information they need to respect and honor us.

Clearing and Releasing Formula from Desert Alchemy is for releasing energies we have taken on.  Cynthia (founder of Desert Alchemy) used two drops of this formula in water to wash fruits and vegetables that had been grown in Greek soil soon after the Chernobyl Disaster.

Cell Salts

I started out being interested in cell salts after reading Radical Healing by Rudolph Ballentine, MD. I had never heard of these before. He talked at length about their safety and for acute cases often very quick results and for chronic cases (like his grandmother’s edema) it was a great way to steadily bring the body/mind system to wholeness.

I had many yoga students who would get cramps in class. So I decided to have cell salt #8, Mag Phos around in case people were interested in trying it. After five years of success (often within 30 seconds) I decided since they were so safe I should check out what else the cell salts might help. I had many pregnant students with varicose veins who “tried everything” to no avail. So I researched and found that the #1 Calc Fluor and #4 Ferr Phos were recommended and suggested it to a few students. Not only did their varicose veins improve during the pregnancy and completely go away after they delivered the baby but they didn’t get the colds their toddler got! Hooray!

Since that time I have studied the cell salts in more depth. One of the reasons I like the cell salts is that there are only 12 of them. At home I have a collection of homeopathic medicines, maybe 50, and it always seems that I don’t have the one I need. When using cell salts, I have them all and it is just a question of figuring out which of the 12! This makes it cheaper and less confusing. I am excited to be able to assist my students in understanding the gentle power of the cell salts.

About Gem Essences

Gem essences are made similarly to flower essences (Alaskan Essences, Delta Gardens and others make and sell them). Gem essences help us to keep our structure. Gold is great for the nerves, Gigha Quartz helps us to be grounded, Watermelon Tourmaline assists us in harmonizing our being, and Black Tourmaline helps us to release old and toxic energies.

Working With Flower Essences

I began my interest in Natural Medicine alternatives when my son was very small and began to develop allergies. I had many assists on the path from alternative practitioners and from other like minded mothers. I wanted to be able to reach for something when I noticed something coming on, not wait for a full blown ear infection or intense suffering due to allergies.

I found a great book, Natural Medicine for Children by Julian Scott, Ph.D. that broadened my world view. In it he gives multiple choices for each “dis-ease”, massage, flower remedies, herbs, homeopathy. When my daughter came along I expected that I was prepared, but alas she was a different person, with different issues and I had more to learn.
I had always had an interest in herbs, but didn’t know all the possible forms they came in. The ease of putting the flower remedies in juice or water and, for me, drops under my tongue was very appealing. At the same time I was studying yoga and aromatherapy and I found placing essential oils very diluted in the bath or diffusing into the room very helpful. But sometimes they would overpower my children.

As I taught pregnant and nursing women and heard their concerns I steered them towards the book Natural Medicine and encouraged their use of five flower formula/rescue remedy (same essence, different manufacturer’s). I found that this was easy for them to remember and took care of many issues. (Truth be told the more we panic about a situation the worse it gets, so when we mellow from using five flower formula the problem mellows or sometimes goes away!!!)

Students in my yoga classes would leave feeling good and come back with the same issue. I had already been studying flower essences for my own benefit and I began to wonder if the essences could assist them (I became a certified flower essence practitioner by Flower Essence Services in 2004). I had a student who got adjusted every week, took my class every week, but still her pubic bone would go out. I invited her to have a flower remedy session. After we worked with the essences she felt much better and realized that she had an underlying fear that was in her way. She took the bottle of essences home and her body stay aligned and her birthing experience was more peaceful.

When five flower/rescue remedy was not working for a particular baby/child I would flash on a particular remedy. One of the most helpful is one for separation anxiety that I had read about a dad creating for his child. I have had a few parents use this and find that this has really helped.
